home Witness ServiceWe have two courts in the Borough of Wandsworth, South Western Magistrates’ Court and Balham Youth Court. The Witness Service is available to all victims, witnesses and their family members who are going to court to give evidence.
We appreciate that attending court can be a traumatic experience, most people are not familiar with court procedures and attending the trial might be the first time you’ve faced the defendant since the offence took place.
The Criminal Justice System website has a virtual walkthrough which you can view. The tour aims to guide any victim of crime through the processes that they will encounter, from the time a crime is reported, through the police investigation, prosecution decision making, court processes, and sentencing. Please click the link below to view the tour.
What can the Witness Service do for me?We can arrange a pre-trial visit where you can look round an empty courtroom We have a safe, comfortable waiting area, away from the defendant We will meet you when you arrive at the building Answer any questions you may have regarding procedures Accompany you into court when giving evidence (whenever necessary) We can liaise with other agencies on your behalf We can obtain your statement from the CPS
To speak to a co-ordinator at the court, please call:
Lois Adams on 020 8271 2204 or 02078051428
